Understanding Myself Better

Who am I really? Discover your personality. Each personality has preferences. What do these preferences say about you and how you relate to the world and others? Participants will complete the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator to discover their preferences: Introversion vs. Extroversion, Sensing vs. Intuition, Thinking vs. Feeling, and Judging vs. Perceiving. Participants will learn what their preferences mean and how they affect relationships and daily functioning. This workshop contains spiritual (Christian faith) components.

Testimony:

My wife and I may never got together without the MBTI, as it helped me realize the validity of introversion and the need for organization as well as spontaneity. The most important way in which the Myers-Briggs assessment is helpful is that it tells you your tendencies (but not how you always are). Now, because I know I’m an Extrovert, iNtuitive, Feeling, sPontaneous person and because I know each of those has an opposite, it has enabled (and continues to enable) me to work on the other side of each. So, when I’m tempted to dominate the conversation or hanker after the attention of others, I remember to value introversion; when I rely overly on my ‘gut reaction’, it reminds to me to gather facts and analyze; when I’m overly emotional, it helps me to remember to use my head as well as my heart; finally, when I find myself relying on improvisation and last-minute planning, it helps me to be more “J” and actually plan things. This can work for anyone, and help us all not to only to become more balanced individuals, but also to understand other people’s personalities and why they do what they do. Ignorance breeds intolerance; understanding that different personality tendencies exist will help foster harmony and empathy.   ~male*
